Last night was the last Awana Bible Quiz competition for our family (because Hannah is in the 6th grade and that's the highest it goes). During the competition, the clubbers are asked a series of multiple choice questions about the handbook they have been studying in Awana. They also have an opportunity to answer some speed questions where they have to buzz in (something like the "Jeopardy" game show). Hannah has been studying very hard for weeks and really wanted to "quiz out" since this is her last year.
To quiz out, the clubber must be the first to buzz in and answer 3 speed quiz questions correctly. They only ask 12 questions in that part of the quiz, and with 10 quizzers trying to buzz in, it's really hard to quiz out. Well, Hannah answered 2 questions correctly! She was a little disappointed that she didn't get to quiz out, but her partner Catherine did quiz out and their team came in FIRST PLACE!
Here's a picture of Hannah and Catherine. The ribbons Catherine is holding are for quizzing out and for being the "Quiz Champion" (the person with the highest score in their age group).
Hannah's best friend Heather was also on a team that won 3rd place.
This is a picture of Hannah and Heather with their leader, Mrs. Joanne.
I was so proud of her, not just because she won but because she worked hard and memorized many verses, definitions, and Bible facts. The competition was exciting and the medal is nice, but the verses she's hidden in her heart are the lasting reward.
